DILATION
Dr. Ding will dilate your eyes to make your pupils larger during a comprehensive eye exam. This allows him a better view of the internal structure of your eye. When your pupils are dilated you will be more sensitive to light and may find it hard to focus on objects up close. Bring sunglasses to your exam to help reduce glare and light sensitivity after you leave.
CHECK FOR EYE DISEASES
Dr. Ding performs screenings for glaucoma, cataracts, and other eye diseases by observing changes in your eyes and through tests like intraocular pressure (IOP) and visual field checks. Diabetics can suffer a loss of vision due to changes in the blood vessels of the retina. Through an eye examination, your eye doctor can diagnose retinal changes that can indicate the progression of the disease.
Refraction
Refraction tests measure the kind of vision correction you need. If you wear glasses or contacts, this is the determining point for your prescription. CONTACT LENS EXAM
Those who wear or want to wear contact lenses need a contact lens exam in addition to a standard eye exam. Special tests, such as a measure of the eye surface and an evaluation of your tear production are necessary to prescribe the best contacts for each individual. Whether you choose glasses or contact lenses, it’s important to receive a yearly eye exam to maintain vision and overall wellness.
If you are considering laser vision correction, the first step on your journey will be a LASIK consultation. The goal of the appointment is to educate you about your treatment options and collect information to determine whether you are a suitable candidate for surgery.
All vision consultation consultations involve a thorough eye exam, during which your eye health and vision will be evaluated.
During your eye exam, Dr. Ding checks your prescription (refraction test) and compares it with your previous results. He also dilates your eyes, which allows your pupils to widen. Then, Dr. Ding examines the inside and back of your eye under magnification.
Dr. Ding checks your corneas with corneal topography. This measures both corneal thickness and shape. He checks your dominant eye, which is especially important if you’re interested in monovision LASIK. Dr. Ding typically also does a tear film analysis, a test that can predict whether dry eye could be a LASIK complication for you.
LASIK, can improve the most common types of refractive errors including myopia (nearsightedness), hyperopia (farsightedness), astigmatism.
Traditionally, LASIK doesn’t correct age-related reading vision problems (presbyopia). So, in most cases, LASIK patients who need reading glasses still have to wear them after LASIK.
Monovision LASIK, however, is a newer procedure that can change that. In monovision LASIK, your surgeon corrects one eye for distance vision and the other eye for near vision. You gradually adapt to using the dominant eye as needed for the situation.
Your frames might be too wide or too heavy, the arms of the frames might meet your ears at the wrong angle, or the bridge of your nose may be too narrow to hold your glasses up. We can help you to adjust them any time you need. Just call the office to make an appointment.
If the arm of the glasses has come off it might just be a missing screw. If that’s all it is we can fix that very easily for you and at no charge! However sometimes its not fixable and you might need to replace the arm/temples completely. Stop by Parrelli Optical and we can take a look and find the perfect solution for you.
Unfortunately, there is no magic way to repair scratched prescription glasses. Once your lenses are scratched, it’s hard to get them back to their original condition. Any attempt to buff the scratches out could make the situation worse. Ask our opticians about extended warranty options on lenses and anti scratch coatings.
If your plastic frames are broken at the hinge, we can most likely repair them. Most of the time the actual hinge in plastic frames is made of metal. If your the hinge on your frames is metal, we will be able to repair them. We can also replace the broken or missing trim spacer on plastic glasses. If your plastic frame has a broken plastic hinge assembly we can retrofit that hinge into a hand fabricated metal hinge assembly.
However if your plastic frame has broken plastic parts like a temple (arm) snapped in half or a broken plastic nose bridge or a snapped plastic lens frame around the lens we unfortunately cannot help you.

It depends on what kind of frames and lenses you choose, how complex your prescription is, and whether you have any customizations. Parrelli Optical can make many glasses the same day as your eye exam if they’re single-vision lenses. When you select your new frames, your Parrelli Optical care provider will let you know when your glasses will be ready.
Absolutely! Many Parrelli Optical patients need special lens coatings, such as blue light blocking, anti-fog, and anti-glare. Just talk to your optician about your lifestyle and needs so they can recommend the right lens coatings for you.
